Harper has recently lost his father and turns to his grandfather, Papa Leo, for male guidance. Papa Leo has recently suffered a stroke and turns to Harper to help him find his lost alphabet and start to make sense of his world. Together they find a way to heal one another and to continue to live.
The play was selected for the AATE Unpublished Play Reading Project and was a finalist at the 2001 Bonderman National Playwriting Symposium in Indianapolis, which featured a professional reading of the play.
