Playwrights for Change

UVU TYE Center hosts the Utah regional contest for AATE’s Playwrights for Change contest for middle school and high school playwrights. Watch this space for the entry forms for the 2025 contest in September 2025 or contact Dr. John Newman, john.newman@uvu.edu

In 2015, the Utah winner, Life Goes On by Alexia McCarty, also won the National prize. Alexia was accompanied by her grandparents on an expenses-paid trip to Chicago for the TYA-USA “One Theatre World” conference, in which the staged reading of her play received a standing ovation from the audience of theatre professionals.
